Pointless signs - Welwyn Garden City

This from a Mr Lost in Space...

Or perhaps a Railway Garden?

Railway Garden Competition - Birmingham New St

This from JT19...

Good to see that despite the modernisation works at Birmingham New Street these heritage railway gardens look set to remain.

Railway Garden Competition - Worlaby

This from a Mr Verdant...

Never have I seen such a perfect lawn except, possibly, at Wimbledon.

Railway Garden Competition - Abroad

This from a Mr Door Bell...

Here are a couple of pics of the approach to Lindau HBf on Lake Constance, Germany.

Note the keenness with which our Teutonic colleagues compete, as they endeavour to lay claim to one of the coveted Railway Garden Competition awards.

Perhaps DB has Arriva spying on the UK's best entries.

Railway Garden Competition - Durham

This via @Arctic_Troll...

Disgraceful! And not even Advent yet.

Railway Garden Competition - Charing Cross

This with a bowler tip to @EliotAnderson...

Not strictly a railway garden, the Charing Cross hotel having been sold off many years ago.

None the less, too good to leave out of this year's competition.

In fact astonishingly good!

Railway Garden Competition - Eastbourne

This from Captain Morgan...

Can any Eye readers identify the variety of electric moss that is currently growing adjacent to platform 3 at Eastbourne station?

Eye awaits a Smart Alec comment from the Apostle of the Third Rail about the unrivalled green credentials of the Southern...

UPDATE: @DriverPotter responds...

Mother Nature herself embraces the 3rd Rail. Deeply pleasing.

Railway Garden Competition - Waterloo East

This from a Mr Greg T...

I thought Eye readers might be interested in these images from the Waterloo East Garden Centre:

The roof-bonsai are still doing well.

And here is a special artistic drain entry!

Magna cum laude!

Railway Garden Competition - Liverpool Lime St

This from Lovely Rita...

I thought Eye readers might appreciate a picture of 'The Crumbling Edge of Quality'.

Perhaps our new LNW Route MD will address?

Railway Garden Competition - Derby

This from a Miss Edna Derby...

Some nicely manicured lawns at Derby... but the train behind exhibits some nice flora as well!

DCR 31602 extracts some Mk 2s which had been vegetating in Chaddesden Yard.

Railway Garden Competition - Crewe

This from Central User...

Further to Crewe's entry of 30th July, a supplementary submission is needed in order to clarify the wide ranging skills of the horticulturists of Crewe.

Behold the Secret Garden!

It is however to be hoped that Network Rail are not wasting time in maintaining the overhead lines.

Railway Garden Competition - Shocking Vandalism!

Disturbing news from Bishop's Stortford!

Regular Eye readers will recall this splendid Railway Garden entry from the Greater Anglia station:

Sadly the entry has been withdrawn!

Eye understands that during a recent night time raid the hanging gardens were eradicated and now passengers only have a brick wall to look at.

And they call this progress?

Railway Garden Competition - Shipley

This from Barrett Homes...

Three from Shipley.

Here the entrance subway off Station Road

And here the former platform opposite the current platform 5.

And finally the station building.

Not so much a Railway Garden as a Railway Garden Centre?

Railway Garden Competition - ClogRail Loos

This from Cross-legged Keith...

The picture below shows a new initiative from Greater Anglia to make its customers enjoy a lovely view whilst spending a penny in the toilet of a Mk3 coach on the route to Norwich.

Apparently, according to someone on the inside, the fixing of these is a franchise commitment and they are sprouting up on EMUs as well.

However, after having perused this fine vista I then discovered that there was no water, no towel and the flush didn't work!

Surely a contender for Railway Garden of the year?

Although a good effort from the Cloggies, sadly no cigar. Ed
